Sheryl Sandberg is on a mission to change the way women are viewed, and how they view themselves.
You may have heard of Sandberg, COO of Facebook’s bestselling book Lean In. In 2012 she led a TEDTalk on the ways in which women are held back, and the ways in which they hold themselves back. After receiving an overwhelming response from viewers around the world who wanted to share their own stories of struggle and success, Sandberg decided to record her stories, research and advice in a book. Lean In sends an inspiring message of empowerment by stressing the importance of gender equality. It encourages women to pursue their ambitions, and changes the conversation from what we can’t do to what we can do.
Since being published, Sandberg has made it her mission to spread the book’s message to women everywhere. An upcoming step in her journey is to bring her message to college students across the country. In order to do so, she will be speaking through a Livestream event on October 28th, from 7-8pm EST. For more information or to sign up for the Livestream, go to leanin.org/livestream.
“Lean In is an inauguration more than a last word, and an occasion for celebration… Many, many women, young and old, elite and otherwise, will find it prescriptive, refreshing, and perhaps even revolutionary.”
